Head Coach ’96-’97 Thrillers, and ’97-’98 girls
Dave Owens played varsity soccer at Spokane Community College and Gonzaga University. Coach Owens has coached soccer camps for the Skyhawks Sports Academy, as well as high school soccer at Rogers H.S. in Spokane, Washington. He has also coached with People to People, Sports Ambassadors since 2002. This includes coaching athletes at the Haarlem Cup in Holland, the Kiwi Cup in New Zealand, and the Brazilian Cup near Rio de Janeiro. Currently, he is a People to People Athletic Director for the Holland Youth Friendship Games, 2007 & 2008.
In addition to his lengthy involvement with soccer, Coach Owens has a history of meaningful work with young people. He has worked as a volunteer foster care worker in New York City, Career Counselor with the Full Employment Council in Kansas City, Group Living Counselor in a residential treatment center, and Recreation Program Developer with Spokane Public Schools.
Head Coach 98/’99 Attack, and ’99/’00 Roos
Eric Palmer is the coach of our girls ’98/’99 Attack, and ’99/’00 Roos teams. Eric has been playing soccer for 40 Years. In high school, Eric played on a traveling premier team. He played college soccer at Baker University. Eric has 10 years experience coaching youth soccer, 8 years with Futura.
Eric is the proprietor of a local small business. He has a daughter who plays for a Futura Northland team.
Head Coach ’99/’00 Crusaders
Geordie McGonagle was born in Northern Ireland, playing in the Irish League for 4 years before being recruited to play in the US at the college level. He played NCAA division I for University of South Alabama and was Sunbelt Conference player 2 years in a row. He also played 2 years at Rockhurst College. Geordie was drafted by the Chicago Sting of the NASL.
Geordie coached college level soccer with KCKS Community College for 5 years. During the 3rd year, his team was ranked in the top 10 junior colleges in the nation. Four of his players went on to play professional soccer. He was awarded coach of the year for his region.
Geordie has 2 daughters that play on Futura Brookside United teams.
